ABOUT ELI OWENS

Eli Owens - Independent Candidate for U.S. House

ELI'S JOURNEY

Eli Owens is an Independent candidate for U.S. House, running a campaign powered by real people. There are no political machines, no career consultants, and no billionaire backers. Every contribution and every act of support helps build a fairer system that works for everyone. His campaign is centered on service and accountability.

Eli has lived on both ends of California, from the edge of the Pacific in Venice Beach to the last mile of the interstate near Palm Springs. He has experienced the full spectrum of California life, from tech boardrooms to cannabis greenhouses, from innovation to survival.

He spent fifteen years in the tech industry before becoming one of the early pioneers of California’s cannabis economy. Through it all, he has seen how disconnected many leaders are from regular people and how broken the system is for anyone who is not wealthy, connected, or represented by a lobbyist.

His campaign is guided by three foundational beliefs:

“Let’s make it an even playing field!”
Eli believes this is not a fight between right and left. It is a fight between those at the top and everyone else. He wants fairness in government, economics, education, and opportunity so that every person has the same chance to succeed.

“I just want to help.”
Eli says this because his motivation is service, not ego. He is not running to gain status. He is running because people are hurting, the system is rigged, and too many leaders avoid the hard work required to fix it.

“I’m applying to work for you.”
Eli sees public office as a job, not a throne. He believes the people of this district deserve someone who answers to them, not to donors or lobbyists. His commitment is simple. If the voters hire him, he works for them from day one.

PLATFORM HIGHLIGHTS

The Angry Empathizer

• “The love for greed will always beat the love for empathy unless it meets an angry empathizer.”
• Eli has always been an empathizer who feels deeply and looks out for people who are ignored.
• After seeing how greed and corruption disrupted his own dreams in California and harmed regular families, he became an angry empathizer.
• If you’re someone who feels deeply and refuses to stay silent, Eli’s fight is your fight.
• This is a movement of compassion with teeth, people who care and act.

Term Limits and Citizen Leadership

• Eli will serve no more than three terms. This is a firm personal commitment.
• The Constitution intended Congress to be run by citizens, not lifetime politicians.
• It was designed for regular people who step forward to serve their communities, not for millionaires enriching themselves at the expense of their constituents.
• End all lifetime positions in Congress.
• Restore accountability through required turnover and open the door for new voices and new generations of leadership.

Fix the Courts: Judicial Accountability and Reform

• Judges must be accountable to the people, not to themselves or partisan circles.
• Congress must provide oversight of judicial behavior.
• Expand the Supreme Court. The last time this happened was in 1869 when the population of the country was a fraction of what it is today.
• We do not have to wait a generation to restore fairness. We can fix this now.

Flip the Script: I Want to Apply to Work for You

• Eli Owens is not asking for power. He is applying for a job.
• You are the boss.
• He will show up, hold open town halls, and stay connected to the people at home.
• He will not live in Washington and fly back only when required.
• Real representation means being present, accountable, and accessible.

Rein in Big Pharma: People Over Profits

• No American should pay more for medication than anyone abroad.
• Ban pharmaceutical kickbacks to doctors.
• End direct to consumer prescription drug advertising.
• Taxpayer funded medical research must serve the public, not inflate executive bonuses.
• Require full transparency in drug pricing, clinical trials, and lobbying activity.
• Big Pharma does not fear disease. It fears accountability.

Build an Economy That Makes Oligarchs Obsolete

• Close every loophole and eliminate tax shelters.
• Apply fair taxation to total earnings including capital gains, stock options, deferred assets, and wealth accumulation.
• No tricks. No exceptions. No dodges. No slick accounting tricks.
• Anyone making over a certain amount will have a dedicated IRS agent monitoring compliance.
• This pays for schools, healthcare, housing, and infrastructure.
• Restore top marginal tax rates from the 1950s and 1960s when the middle class was thriving.
• Prioritize small businesses and worker owned enterprises over monopolies.
• No government subsidies for companies that offshore jobs or pollute our future.
• The United States loses an estimated one hundred sixty billion dollars per year to ultra wealthy tax dodging.
• Reagan once said the scariest words were “I am from the government and I am here to help.” Today, the scarier line is “I am a billionaire and I am here to help.”

Reverse Privatization, Reclaim Public Systems, Restore Common Sense Laws

• Water, internet, electricity, education, and prisons should not be controlled by corporations.
• Re nationalize essential services because public goods should serve the people, not investors.
• Federal systems are more equitable and cost effective than private monopolies.
• Reverse Reagan era deregulation such as the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine which enabled propaganda networks to thrive.
• In Canada, media that knowingly lies is not allowed to broadcast. We can adopt similar protections.

Reclaim the Space Industry

• NASA was gutted while billionaires treated space as a toy box.
• Restore and expand public space exploration.
• End taxpayer subsidized launches that enrich private empires.
• Space belongs to the people, not to a handful of wealthy individuals.

No More Monopoly Utilities

• Basic needs like heat and internet access should never be unaffordable.
• Utilities such as electricity and broadband must be publicly run and federally supported.
• Say yes to accessible and fair state run services incentivized to lower costs for everyone.
• Say no to private monopolies that price families out of their own homes to enrich executives.
• We need the opposite of Project 2025. We need a future where government protects people from corporate exploitation.

Ban Lobbying as We Know It

• Outlaw PACs and dark money in politics.
• Make all political contributions and lobbying activity fully transparent and public.
• Enforce a lifetime ban on former lawmakers becoming lobbyists.
• Return policymaking to the public, not the boardroom.

AI Must Empower the Common People

• Today AI is used to squeeze every dollar from Americans by analyzing personal data. That is wrong.
• AI should uplift the working class, not enforce wealth concentration.
• Eli supports ethical AI that creates opportunity, transparency, and fairness.

Healthcare, Education and Housing as Human Rights

• Guarantee universal access to healthcare, public education, and safe housing.
• No American should go bankrupt from a hospital visit.
• No child should fall behind because of their zip code.
• No veteran, senior, or working parent should be left homeless.
• Some of our brightest minds are sleeping on sidewalks.
• It is time to create a real safety net for everyone.

End the Era of Greed Driven Government

• Politicians get nothing done because they are owned.
• Eli is not a politician. He is a worker, a farmer, and a problem solver.
• He is not talking about climate change. He is living it.
• He is not talking about helping the homeless. He is doing it.
• He is not interested in headlines. He is fighting for the little guy.
